twilight was. ridiculous, to say the least.

i wrote those exact words in my journal last night. twilight was so so so poorly scripted, i can’t even describe. actually several times in the movie, i was waiting for the real part of the movie to begin, but it never did. there were parts that i couldn’t help thinking, “uh, WHAT??!?!?!  are you serious?”

hey, i need to talk to you… as she “hides” behind the wall

i don’t think we should be friends… were you even friends to begin with??

edward jumps through her window, says a few words, then tells her to be still so her can kiss her. … uh, what?!

i think her part was kind of that hillary duff like, pout-y breathy, damsel in distress type. and i couldn’t get over how casual she was, in the entire movie… also, did anyone notice that edward doesn’t have any other friends, and bella ditched her “normal” friends because she was so obssesed with edward?

the most interesting part of the movie was when he said everything about him was made to lure people in, his looks, his face, his scent, the way he spoke… THAT was interesting..

no matter how much i bag on twighlight, i couldn’t stop thinking about it afterwards. i tried weighing pros and cons of the movie, and why it was such a huge hit. and . i’ve picked out that it’s because edward is “everything” a girl would fantasize about. He takes initiative, he pursues bella, he is protective, he comes to the rescue, and he is selfless. he also doesn’t say much. just like that guy in that taiwanese drama, princess .. romantic princess? ( what is it with guys that don’t say much?)

anyways, after looking up edward, or robert patttinson and reading reviews about the movie, all the mysteries were unraveled and there was nothing left to feel all “dreamy” about. This morning, i picked up “The Dangerous Duty of Delight” by J Pipes ( i mean, john piper :)) and read this:

God has put eternity in man’s mind and filled the human heart with longing. But we know not what we long for until we see the breathtaking God… the human race does in fact crave the experience of awe and wonder. And there is no reality more breathtaking than Jesus Christ. He is not safe, but He is stunning…. How can i not cry, “Look! Believe! Be satisfied!” It may cost you your life to see it. but it will be worth it because we know on good authority that “The steadfast love of the Lord is better than life” Psalm 63:3 Infinite delight is a dangerous duty. But you will not regret the pursuit.

I am so glad, that God has filled our hearts with longing. It makes so much sense, that we constantly feel a desire for more, doesn’t it? And that our fullest feeling of satisfaction will only come when we see Him face to face. Even after the craze of vampire hot guys and dreamy movie stars are faded, the longing in our hearts will still remain because it can’t be filled by anything in this world.

How i long for Jesus.
